Design
The design follows the award winning architecture of the stadium, adding landscaped pedestrian plazas, and balconied riverside walkways, terraces, and view points overlooking the River Colne. Curves and vistas, a careful choice of materials, changes of level, the presence of water, the impressive backdrop of the Kilner Bank and expansive public areas will make The HD One a uniquely attractive place to visit. The venue will offer excitement and activity to some and tranquillity and relaxation to others.
The ground level is higher in the south part of the site, thereby offering an opportunity to create a natural connection from the southern plaza directly to the second level of restaurants and bars in the riverside block, which will overlook the water and face the stadium. The dual level theme is continued in the two high level restaurants and upper and lower level pedestrian bridges spanning the river.
Broad walkways with frequent opportunities to change from one level to another using escalators, lifts, or steps make this an easy place to stroll around and enjoy. All restaurant, bar and cafe units will have dedicated external seating areas allowing their ambience and character to spill out into the surroundings.
